06-4733 Starter Sprag Clutch – 18 Rollers – 69-0617
The 18 sprag clutch will only work with a new engine sprocket 06-4681 and Gear Crank 06-4731. It will not work with the old 14 sprag mating parts.

NB. Backfire during start-up will quickly destroy the sprag clutch part 06-4733.
To avoid this situation, ensure that:
- The battery is correct specification (YB12AA), is in good condition and fully charged.
- The ignition timing is accurately set by strobe to the factory manual. Retarding the timing by a few degrees is preferable as this will provide an extra safeguard against back-fire.
- The engine sprocket and drive gear are within tolerance. A worn engine sprocket 06-4681 and/or drive gear 06-4731 will rapidly damage the sprag clutch. To work correctly the sprocket I/D and drive gear O/D must be in good condition and measure within tolerance: 2.280″ – 2.281″ and 1.6253″ – 1.6248″ respectively. It is advisable to replace both these parts if their condition is in doubt.
